The man accused of setting fire to a Chabad in Punta Gorda remains in Charlotte County Jail.

Blake Hoover, represented by a public defender, faced charges of second-degree arson and third-degree criminal mischief to a religious building on Sunday.

He was given a no-contact order for the Chabad of Charlotte County at 424 West Henry Street in Punta Gorda.

"You are not to go there," said Judge Russell Kirshy. "You are not to contact anybody who works there. You must stay away from there. My suggestion is you just stay completely out of the neighborhood."

Hoover's bail for the criminal mischief charge was set at $25,000.

However, the state filed a pre-trial detention, and a hearing will happen in the coming days to decide if Hoover will remain in jail or be released on bail for his arson charge.

Hoover will be arraigned on Nov. 3 at the Charlotte County Courthouse.
