A man found himself behind bars after a street takeover in Lehigh Acres.

Lee County Sheriff's Office Deputies received multiple reports of dirt bikes and ATVs taking over the streets Sunday night.

According to LCSO, deputies responded to Homestead and Alabama Road in Lehigh Acres following multiple reports of dirt bikes and ATVs taking over the streets.

According to the report, the riders were doing donuts, burnouts, and driving into oncoming traffic, forcing vehicles off the road. When units arrived, the suspects fled, prompting a full response involving ground units, K9, aviation, and drones.

The aviation team tracked the suspects weaving through side streets. One rider crashed into a canal bank and ran into the woods.

K9 tracked down the suspect, Dysean Schmitz, and made the arrest.

Schmitz faced several charges, including street takeover, aggravated flee and elude, running a red light, driving against traffic, and no vehicle registration. According to LCSO, Schmitz also had an active out-of-county warrant for similar crimes.
