Federal employees are on alert as a potential government shutdown looms.

A memo sent on Tuesday to various departments, including Health and Human Services, Education and Labor, warns of possible issues if funding lapses.

The memo states President Donald Trump opposes a shutdown and backs a House-passed Republican bill to keep the government funded into November.

The Senate has adjourned for the night without approving on a funding bill to keep the government open after midnight Tuesday night. Senators will return at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
